Case Study: Leading a Global Turnaround for a Commercial Med-Tech Platform

Client: AVL Medical Instruments / Roche (A Global Med-Tech Leader)
Project: OMNILink Remote Management System for Point-of-Care Devices

The Challenge

A mission-critical, international project to create a remote management system for point-of-care (PoC) medical analysers was failing under its previous leadership. The struggling project jeopardised a significant commercial opportunity for the £135 million-turnover global med-tech company.

A Founder-Led Solution

Our founder, Jason Ratcliffe, was appointed as the Technical Manager for the EMEA division and tasked with turning this high-stakes project around. He took decisive action:

  • Project Takeover & Redesign: Jason took control of the failing project, proposed a completely new and viable design, and successfully managed the international development team to build it.

  • Global Rollout Management: He personally project-managed the most technically challenging installations across the EU and Australia, handling all testing, troubleshooting, and deployment to over 30 global sites.

  • Future Vision & Architecture: Beyond the immediate turnaround, Jason also designed the core architecture for the next generation of the product, ensuring its long-term commercial success.

The Outcome

Jason's leadership successfully transformed OMNILink from a failing project into a commercially successful platform, which is now used in over 30 sites worldwide. The architecture he designed was so robust and forward-thinking that the platform is still in use today as a core part of Roche's product offering, now called Roche Navify.
